For their gridiron exploits this season, three Tennessee State players were named to the BOXTOROW All-American Team- defensive back Boogie Trotter, offensive lineman Connor Meadows, and running back and return specialist CJ Evans.
Boogie Trotter | Junior | Defensive Back
The Nashville native built upon a sophomore season in which he appeared in 9 games and recorded 11 tackles (7 solo) and 1 pass defensed, by exceeding his previous production in every statistical category. Trotter appeared in 14 games this season and recorded 66 tackles ( 47 solos), 3 interceptions ( the first of his TSU career), 11 passes defensed, 1.5 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 3 fumble recoveries. A consistent playmaker for the TSU defense, Trotter also earned All OVC-Big South first-team honors.
Connor Meadows | Redshirt Sophomore | Offensive Lineman
The redshirt sophomore was an integral part of a front unit that only allowed 13 sacks on the season. The Tennessee transfer helped the Tigers’ offense to end the season with the third-highest offensive efficiency in the Big South-OVC with a rating of 137.6.
CJ Evans | Redshirt Senior | Running Back
Despite being part of a crowded Tennessee State running back room, CJ Evans was able to run for 309 yards and 3 touchdowns on 82 carries. Though he was the team’s second-leading rusher, it was in the return game where Evans was most impactful. The redshirt senior was given kick return duty and the dividends were immediate. He led the Big South-OVC in return yardage, averaging 32.3 yards per return, and return touchdowns, with 2.
